“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”, said Rachel Zoe, distinguished stylist, editor and designer. Benny Goodman said,  "To this day, I don't like people walking on stage not looking good. You have to look good. If you feel special about yourself then you're going to play special." According to them, Fashion is one of the tools to achieve their purposes as style or specificity. Moreover, there are lots of followers who go crazy about hot fashion items or new-released designs in fashion markets, and those desires for fashion is becoming a great part of a social life. Last week, 2015 s/s Seoul Fashion Week have just finished and the impression of the fashion show still lingers in our mind. Due to increasing desires for better looking and thanks to the traffic development, our fashion markets are becoming bigger and bigger. Then people started to care about fashion and it became a way to express one's feelings and the most powerful art in this era that shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be. With these traits of today's fashion, I strongly argue that fashion should be important in our daily lives with three main reasons: Increasing creativity, function variation, and Importance of first impression.

First of all, fashion can increase the creativity of individuals and it leads to happiness and satisfaction. Fashion can make you more creative in everyday life. And it also finds out that people feel jubilant when they create something that they like and ends up a success. Moreover, there are quotes of celebrities. Owen Murphy said fashion what the person likes and admires plays a high role to one's happiness as it gives them a sense of individuality, and Donatella Versace said that 'Fashion is all about happiness. It's fun. It's important. But it's not medicine.'(Owen Murphy, Donatella Versace) Through these data, we can infer the creativity that was created by fashion can affect the happiness or satisfaction of individuals. For my own experience, my future dream is to be an international fashion designer, and when I saw a fashion megazine that has lots of noble and fabulous designs, it also makes me to think creatively in designing, such as dress designs with new fabrics that have never been used in any other clothes. Furthermore, fashion makes me to think 'How can I create more unique designs but practical what people can easily put on?' and this thought goes on the unique creation. 

Secondly, fashion plays a role not only in the decorating part but also in various parts. It carries out lots of functions in our actual lives. For instance, it can reflect one person’s feeling or individuality. Fashion is one of the way of self-expression. One can choose colors and designs which he or she wants, and can wear some accessaries that he or she likes. Also, through the trials and errors that occur while the person’s finding of suitable fashion, the one can find out their identities, too. According to the site 'I love to know fashion history', it says that fashion becomes inextricably implicated in constructions and reconstructions of identity and through appearance style, individuals announce who they are and who they hope to become. In the point of self-expression, Fashion Thrill, a famous fashion site, said that Dress can affiliate the wearer to a particular social group. Many societies and cultures traditionally wear symbolic dress to mark important occasions such as marriages and deaths, and fashion and dress can also help define gender and sexuality. As this statement, we can show a person's identity, culture, included society, and even gender. Moreover, fashion can be used as a protection tool, especially clothes. These days, many fashion companies are producing a functional clothes such as Uniqlo's heattech t-shirt or Nike's tech windrunner jacket. These kinds of functional clothes can protect a person from harmful dust in the air, keep the body temperature in hot or cold weathers, and make it easier to work out. Likewise, fashion plays important functions in many different parts of our lives.

Some still says that you should not judge a person by their looking, but unconsciously we are doing that action. Fashion can affect the first impression. As you know, first impression is an important part of meeting people and you never get a second chance to make a first impression. According to the site 'Ask Andy about clothes', using your clothes is the best way to create a great first impression. People can get a good impression by first seeing and the first fashion of meeting makes people know who you are. There are two more data that appeal that appearance which have been formed by fashion affects their first impression. One is a paper 'The Effect of Appearance on First Impressions' written by a professor of the University of Hertfordshire. As the professor mentioned, after seeing a face for just one second, people make judgments about another’s personal and occupational attributes. And fashion takes a great part of a person's appearance with colorful clothes. Furthermore, according to the book 'Journal of fashion marketing and management', clothing communicates information about the wearer and first impressions can be heavily influenced by the messages conveyed by attire.

In conclusion, fashion is playing an important role in our daily life because it increases person's creativity, it makes a good first impression to others and it is a wonderful tool to show individual's self-expression such as identity, feelings, or sociality. Through those examples that I gave to support my argument that fashion should be important in our daily lives, people will realize how much fashion affect to our lives and notice that fashion is the best way to impress themselves.

1. The introduction

I will start by describing the situation lots of people care about fashion and how do they look. Fashion is a way to express one's feelings and the most powerful art in this era. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be. I will end with my thesis, "Fashion  should be important in our daily lives." 

2. The narration

I will summarize the research I've done and provide three reasons (creativity, self expression-individuality, importance of first impression) to support with some examples of fashion's effects. 

3. The confirmation

I will start by explaining fashion can increase the creativity and it leads to the happiness and satisfaction of individuals with the quotes of celebrities (TI, Owen Murphy, Donatella versace). Then I will describe the importance of fashion on first impression with a research result.(Journal of fashion marketing and management). Lastly, I will explain that fashion is one of the way to express individuals(self-expression).

4. The refutation and concession

I will concede that certain bad trends of fashion can affect the students who have to focus on their task, but it is just a way to express their feeling and we don't have any right to forbid them. Also, through these trials and errors, they can find out the suitable fashion and their identities. I will use the this information to support the relation between fashion and identity.

5. The summation

I will close with a summary of my previous points, then some examples of fashion's effect that made people to be creative, made a good first impression to others with fashion, and successful self expression. Lastly, I will provide reasons why this solution is the best one.

Articulation

1) My argument 
I want to argue that fashion is taking an important part of our daily life. Fashion is a way to express one's feelings and the most powerful art in this era. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be.
Fashion can make people creative and this creative movement would make people feel happy and satisfied.
Also, it can flourish cultures and religions, called Fashion Statement, make people to be more professional to their jobs and make it easier for people to work thanks to its suitability.

2) How I found my argument 
My first research question was, why is fashion important. It seems reasonable to be a good reason to support my argument. This article helped corroborate that theory. As I continued researching, I could find out that there are lots of examples that can prove the great effect of fashion, such as increasing creativity, flourishing cultures and religions and making people more professional looking with easier working condition. Then I started looking at the opposite perspective. We should not judge people by their appearances. However, we still do this behavior unconsciously.(Last paragraph)

3) New research questions
I have several questions that need to be resolved.
a) Why people try to look better with the fashion style?
b) How fashion can change human mind?
c) What are the stereotypes of fashion?
I'll continue browsing the internet and looking for interesting articles and keeping track of my research with blog posts.\

4) Connections to the Harvard Sampler 
This argument has connection to the Harvard Sampler. Because it obviously is directly related to the human mind part. Some people think that fashion is important to them and even think that fashion can change their mind and mood. So I'd like to focus on the mind part of fashion(People's mind on fashion's importance).

Because I am really interested in fashion and I'd like to know why people think that fashion is important. So, i think my final persuasive essay will be about an argument : Fashion is important , and supports about why fashion is important.

What are my current thoughts?
Some people care about their fashion, and I think it is a good chance to think of how do I look. I think fashion is the best way to express one's feeling. So, I want to persuade more people to think that fashion is important and make them to care about what to wear in their daily life. Because this can change other's thinking of them in a good way. For example, if a person cares about his or her interview and wears neat clothes, he or she can have more probabilities to success the interview than others. Because they look neat and clever than other who wear bulk jeans and t-shirts.

What is the opposition?
Fashion is nothing but just a mean to protect our body.
We don't have to concern about fashion because it is waste of time.
